JST 3000 Introduction to Jewish Studies

(Same as MES 3710.) A survey of Jewish experience since Biblical times, with special attention to the modern period (c. 1680-1945) and contemporary period (1945-present). Students synthesize material drawn from numerous disciplines, including film, history, literature, philosophy, religious studies, sociology, and women’s studies. The course is facilitated by a lead teacher, with regular guest lectures by faculty and experts from different fields. Topics vary with faculty.
