EDRD 7260 Early Literacy Development and Instruction

Students examine theories and research on language and literacy development in childhood. Psychological, social, and cultural factors that influence early literacy development are related to educational implications for students’ understanding and effective use of language and literacy. Instructional approaches for developing phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension abilities of beginning readers are explored. Cross-listed with ECE 9420.
